There is a science in learning to read and reading to learn. Using the Science of Reading, here are some instructional considerations that I use when designing an evidence-based reading program:
- Development of phonological skills
- Decoding words, fluency and vocabulary
- Comprehension and critical thinking of various texts
- Building academic language (subject specific vocabulary)
- Shaping student reading progress and stamina with Reader Ladders, Levelled and Decodable Texts
Expect to see boosted reading engagement and
higher levels of comprehension and critical thinking.
